ALIEN discoveries could be on the horizon as China’s world’s largest telescope which could be used to “detect extraterrestrial life” has started operating again.What would it mean if China were to make the greatest discovery in human history.Chinese state media outlet Science and Technology Daily claims that the country’s FAST (Five-hundred-metre Aperture Spherical Telescope) is going to start looking for alien life, rather signals starting September 2020.

Ever since big bang theory came into existence 13.8 billion years ago, many unanswered questions about chemistry of life got meaning .Life may have emerged independently at many places throughout the universe.With years of progress in science the concept of extraterrestrial life, and particularly extraterrestrial intelligence, has had a major cultural impact, chiefly in works of science fiction. Extraterrestrial is hypothetical life which may occur outside of Earth and which did not originate on Earth. Such life might range from simple prokaryotes (or comparable life forms) to beings with civilizations far more advanced than humanity. The Drake equation speculates about the existence of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe.
A new calculation predicts there could be as many as 36 intelligent alien civilizations in our galaxy.
Alien life, such as microorganisms, has been hypothesized to exist in the Solar System and throughout the universe. This hypothesis relies on the vast size and consistent physical laws of the observable universe.

Located in southern China’s Guizhou province, the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) will begin these trial operations in September 2020.FAST has a 500-meter (1,640ft) diameter, although it only ever focuses a 300m (984ft) segment on the receiver at any given moment.

Scientists are using FAST — the world’s largest single-dish radio telescope — for a variety of tasks, including to search for extraterrestrial intelligence.

Since 2016, the telescope has observed 99 signals from deep space. However, these signals proved to be fast radio bursts (FRBs).
Having the world’s largest and most powerful new radio telescope, we can receive weaker and more distant radio messages, said Wu Xiangping, director-general of the Chinese Astronomical Society, “It will help us to search for intelligent life outside of the galaxy and explore the origins of the universe,” he added underscoring the China’s race to be the first nation to discover the existence of an advanced alien civilization.The FAST telescope may give China a powerful means of transmitting radio signals that might be detected by an extraterrestrial civilization,” Michaud said.

Experts in China will be using the vast machine to scan the universe to search for life that doesn’t reside on Earth.

As the FAST telescope is so huge, it has the potential to detect even the weakest signals from the far-flung reaches of the universe.

In his 2008 novel “The Three-Body Problem,” award-winning Chinese science-fiction writer Cixin Liu painted a dark picture of what such messaging extraterrestrial intelligence (METI) signals could mean for humankind, Michaud said. “It is not yet clear whether this view is widely shared in China. Any serious effort to transmit powerful signals with the FAST radio telescope is likely to require the Chinese political leadership’s approval,” Michaud said.
