COnVERTING WASTE INTO PLASTIC TILES

Plastic consist of around 20% of the total municipal solid waste in our country, this is because of increased plastic  consumption these days. The plastic  solid waste  being non-biodegradable have posed serious issues. Also, the  by products generated due to combustion of coal produces fly ash, which poses a major threat to the land and air resources.

Back in the year 2018, Shayna Ecounified India , a group of young entrepreneurs  had come together for the purpose of  waste management. They received much appreciation for their  innovative idea,  who made it possible to  convert space consuming garbage waste into something architecturally attractive ,by  producing cost-effective plastic tiles. They  came with a feasible solution of “Clean and Green” to deal with the stacking mountains of rubbish, by promoting Recycle and Reuse .Being the first ones to receive permission from CSIR-NPL , they’ve come up with a technology to recycle plastic waste. Plastic bags and plastic bottle  are some of the most common litter forms. Many companies have recently started even the recycling of plastic bags ,since earlier softer plastic material were not used. These plastic waste accounts for nearly 70% of the air pollution, and 50% of the water pollution.

The Process

The process is a six step long process. It starts with the NGOs and the rag pickers collecting  the  waste and moving it to the power plants. There the waste is cleaned and sorted according to various types and colours, followed by shredding into small parts. Special equipment is used to separate   the plastic resin by various types, used for melting and moulding to new shapes. The  waste  is then compressed , making the plastic pellet ready to be mixed with fillers. The mixture then becomes  ready into anti-microbial, durable   tiles. Such tiles are expensive and requires expensive equipment.

The best part about such tiles are that they ‘re  made up of fly ash, sand.  These tiles are anti-microbial , has a heat capacity of 140 degree Celsius, and a loading capacity of 20 tonnes. Such tiles  are available in different colours, and can be recycled every 5 years.

In Bangalore, an NGO had began production of plastic tiles named, “Re-named tiles” . These tiles are  fire resistant- and has a heat resistant capacity of up to  150  degree Celsius. It can carry loads up to 35 tonnes. It is  non-porous, durable  and  immune to any type of chemical, which makes it’s life longer. On a average, around 3-4 tonnes of plastic garbage is broken down to produce 10000 tiles per day. This garbage waste may include items  like milk bottles, disposable containers from restaurants , shampoo bottles, etc.  The plastic tiles are priced around Rs.70-90 per square feet. Even after all this initiatives ,still  people are unaware of the urgent need to prevent  our environment from deteriorating further .People  even now prefer expensive Italian tiles over these eco-friendly affordable plastic tiles available in various colours. So, as individuals it is our duty  towards  our Mother Earth to not just dump waste , but instead approach such organizations  and do our little bit towards saving the environment

PRAGUE

Location

Prague is the capital and largest city in the Czech Republic, the 13th largest city in the European Union and the historical capital of Bohemia. Situated on the Vltava River, Prague is home to about 1.3 million people, while its metropolitan area is estimated to have a population of 2.7 million. The city has a temperate oceanic climate, with relatively warm summers and chilly winters.

History

Prague is a political, cultural and economic centre of central Europe complete with a rich history. Founded during the Romanesque and flourishing by the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque eras, Prague was the capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia and the main residence of several Holy Roman Emperors, most notably of Charles IV. It was an important city to the Habsburg Monarchy and its Austro-Hungarian Empire. The city played major roles in the Bohemian and Protestant Reformation, the Thirty Years’ War and in 20th-century history as the capital of Czechoslovakia between the World Wars and the post-war Communist era.

Prague is home to a number of well-known cultural attractions, many of which survived the violence and destruction of 20th-century Europe. Main attractions include Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square with the Prague astronomical clock, the Jewish Quarter, Petrin hill and Vysehrad. Since 1992, the extensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

The city has more than ten major museums, along with numerous theatres, galleries, cinemas and other historical exhibits. An extensive modern public transportation system connects the city. It is home to a wide range of public and private schools, including Charles University in Prague, the oldest university in Central Europe.

How to go

By air: It is quite easy to travel to Prague by flight, thanks to the international airport in the city. The Vaclav Havel Airport in Prague is one of the busiest airports among the ones in the newer European Union countries. A hub for Czech Airlines, the airport is well-connected to many cities around the globe, especially other European countries, like Athens, Dublin, Moscow, Paris, Rome, London, Brussels, etc. Some of the main carriers flying these routes are Lufthansa, Czech Airlines, Emirates, Easy Jet, China Eastern Airlines etc. Travellers from the East will find it difficult to find direct flights to this exotic city. But a lot of connecting flights are easily available from many eastern countries.

By bus: Prague is easily accessible by bus from many other neighbouring European cities. Buses from international cities stop at Prague Central Florenc Bus Station. There are buses connecting various cities with Prague like London, Paris, Brussels, Vienna, Zurich, Budapest etc. The main service providers on these routes are Flixbus, Eurolines, RegioJet, Blueline-bus, National Express (London) etc. Prague is also well-connected with many national cities like Brno, Ostrava, Plzen, Liberec etc. Public transportation is the most frequently used means to reach this beautiful city.

By train: There are a number of trains connecting Prague with other cities in the European Union. Cities like London, Zurich, Vienna, Budapest, Paris, Munich, Frankfurt etc. have regular train services to Prague. With assured comfortable commute and less travel time, a lot of European tourists tend to opt for a rail journey to reach Prague. Most of these trains are run by the German railway company Deutsche Bahn.

Tourist places

Prague Castle: Located in Prague’s Hradcany neighborhood, Prague Castle once the home of Bohemia’s kings, is today the official residence of the Czech Republic’s President and one of the city’s most visited tourist attractions. Originally built as a walled fortress around AD 870, the castle has changed dramatically over the years and contains examples of most of the leading architectural styles of the last millennium. Within the castle walls are a number of Prague’s most popular tourist sites, including St. Vitus Cathedral, St. George’s Basilica, the Powder Tower, the Old Royal Palace, and the Golden Lane.

The largest castle complex in the world, this vast fortress requires considerable time to tour, but it’s time well spent (particularly rewarding are the excellent views over the Vltava River with the old town and its many beautiful spires in the background). Highlights include the Old Royal Palace’s main hall, the Vladislav Hall, so large it could be used for jousting tournaments, and staircases wide enough to allow mounted knights to use them. Be sure to also spend time in the Royal Garden, dating back to 1534 and home to a number of superb old buildings, including the Ball Game Pavilion, the Royal Summer House with its Singing Fountain, and the Lion’s Court.

The best way to fully explore the castle is on a Prague Castle Walking Tour. One of the top things to do at night in Prague is to find a good spot from which to enjoy the castle illuminations that light this magnificent structure in a range of hues. In fact, basing yourself in a hotel in the vicinity of Prague Castle is a good idea, so you can experience the city highlights by day and night.

Charles Bridge: One of the most recognizable old bridges in Europe, magnificent Charles Bridge boasts 32 unique points of interest along its 621-meter span. Built in 1357, the bridge has long been the subject of a great deal of superstition, including the builders having laid the initial bridge stone on the 9th of July at exactly 5:31am, a precise set of numbers (135797531) believed to give the structure additional strength. For added good measure, it was constructed in perfect alignment with the tomb of St. Vitus and the setting sun on the equinox.

The bridge is particularly famous for its many fine old statues. Among the most important are those of Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV and John of Nepomuk, the country’s most revered saint, unveiled in 1683 (a more recent superstition involves rubbing the plaque at the base of the statue for the granting of a wish). Other highlights include spectacular views over the River Vltava and the structure’s superb Gothic gates. Viewing Charles Bridge at night is also highly recommended.

Wenceslas Square: A highlight of Prague’s New Town district—an area that grew out of the city’s need to expand as it prospered—is the wonderful Wenceslas Square, home to the National Museum and numerous other architectural treasures. Named after the patron saint of Bohemia, whose statue can be seen here, Wenceslas Square was created in the 14th century during the reign of Charles IV as a horse market and has since become one of the city’s most important public spaces, still used for demonstrations and celebrations alike.

A visit today is a fun experience and undoubtedly one of the top free things to do in Prague, and will introduce visitors to some of the city’s best dining and restaurant experiences, as well as great shopping. If you are visiting Prague in December, it’s also the site of the city’s largest Christmas Market.

National Museum: Fresh from a seven-year-long renovation, the National Museum in Prague is spread across a number of locations and houses numerous important collections representing a variety of fields, with literally millions of items covering mineralogy, zoology, anthropology, and archaeology, as well as the arts and music. The entomology collection alone numbers more than five million specimens. The oldest museum in the Czech Republic, it was established in the early 1800s before moving to its current location in 1891.

A particularly enjoyable highlight is the archaeology exhibit with its extensive collection of 1st-and 2nd-century Roman artifacts, along with numerous Bronze and Early Iron age finds. Another museum to include on your must-visit list is the excellent National Technical Museum, which documents the many technological advances the country has contributed to, including displays of machinery and equipment built here over the years, from automobiles to aircraft.

National Gallery: Spread across some of the city’s most important architectural landmarks, the National Gallery in Prague is home to some of Europe’s most important art collections. The bulk of the collection is housed in the Veletrzni Palace a relatively modern structure built in 1925 that holds the 19th- to 21st-century works. While there’s a strong emphasis on Czech artists, foreign artists such as Monet and Picasso are included, as are other art forms such as photography, fashion, applied arts, and sculpture.

Other notable works are held in the Kinsky Palace, home to Asian art, art from the ancient world, and the gallery’s Baroque collections, and at the Convent of St. Agnes of Bohemia, where you’ll find European art from the Middle Ages.

Finally, the splendid 17th-century Sternberg Palace houses some of the gallery’s most famous pieces, focusing on European art from the Classical era to the end of the Baroque period and including important ancient Greek and Roman pieces; 14th- to 16th-century Italian masterpieces; and 16th- to 18th-century works by artists such as El Greco, Goya, Rubens, van Dyck, Rembrandt, and van Goyen.

Loneliness and its consequences by Debalina Mukherjee.

When the whole world is locked within their rooms due to this covid 19 pandemic many of us are feeling lonely, sad and depressed. So I would like to tell each individual who is reading this that you are not alone. We are all together in this. We are not alone.Lets fight our fears and be happy. Talk to your inner self.. Believe that you are capable of fighting and we shall overcome this situation very soon..
Loneliness is something that we all suffer in today’s world. There is no age boundary regarding this actually.Usually students shift to hostels or different state and countries for higher studies or job. There in the new environment they take time to adjust and reciprocate. Loneliness is the common thing thing that grasps them. They feel loneny, out of their comfort sone and miss their near ones terribly. Depression is another dangerous disease that attacts them in most cases. Despite of having friends they suffer from anxiety and depression. People develop different addictions like consuming drugs and alcohol which have adverse effect on their health and career.
Again in case of aged people whose children live far away from then also suffer from loneliness. What our near ones actually want from us is love and our gime. Sadly in today’s competitive word people hardly have time for anything. All are running in a rat race in order to survive. Aged people need more care love and affection.when they faail to get it they become lonely sad and depressed. It affects their mental and physical health to a great extend.
When such things are going on all over the world we all must talk to ourselves as I have already mentioned. It will give satisfaction. It will help us to fight better. Doing meditation and yoga helps in this context. One can easily get bact to old hobbies like reading, writing, painting or browsing old photo albums. But one should never neglect such problems like depression, anxiety. Feeling lonely can create many problems ehich have bad consequences. It is said thatam empty and sad mind is a devil’s den. Do talking to exprets regarding this can really help. Fell free to consult a psychiatrist in such case.
Loneliness the Demon.
One fears loneliness and so do I,
One faces loneliness and so do I,
Amongst the thousands one tends to loose the very identity and so do I,
Its like the demon who grabs the arms in dark,
It engulfs the ability to think, to desire,to prosper
It conquers the power to imagine ,to proceed and to succeed,
When one night it penitrated me to the fullest,
I tried to resist but all in vain
I waited for the atmosphere to change;
But it changed for the worst
And all of a sudden a voice interrupted and resumed my consciousness,
And now as i behold i find my reflection,
Subconsciously i realize the very fact that
Am not alone,.
for i am encompassed by my own self that resides deep inside me that saved me that night..
Everyone has an inner self just as i possess
Grant her your friendship just as i do
And u will notice loneliness closes its doors for you…

US SUPPORTS INDIA’S BANNING OF CHINESE APPS

India’s ban on 59 Chinese applications, including the famous TikTok, has been widely noted in the US, including by some influential lawmakers, who have urged the US government to follow suit as the short video-sharing app is believed to pose a major security risk to the region.

India blocked 59 Chinese-linked apps Monday, including TikTok and UC Browser, saying they were harmful to the country’s sovereignty, dignity and security.

The prohibition, which comes against the context of India’s current stand-off with Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh, is also relevant to WeChat and Bigo Live.

“India bans TikTok and dozens of other Chinese apps in the wake of the deadly clash,” powerful Republican Senator John Cornyn said in a tweet as he tagged a news report in The Washington Post.

Republican Congressman Rick Crawford tweeted that “TikTok must go and it should have been gone yesterday.”

Last week, US National Security Advisor, Robert O’Brien had alleged that the Chinese Government is using TikTok for its own purposes.

“On TikTok, a Chinese-owned social media platform with over 40 million American users, probably a lot of your kids, and younger colleagues, accounts criticising the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) and Beijing’s policies are routinely removed or deleted,” O’Brien said in his public remarks.

At least two proposals in the U.S. Senate are pending to prohibit federal government employees from using TikTok on their mobile phones, suggesting such a sentiment could build steam in the U.S. following the move by India.

“Would that be the same Chinese TikTok that was used to tank attendance at the Tulsa Rally?” tweeted Peter Navarro, Assistant to the US President for Trade and Manufacturing Policy, as he tagged a news report from The New York Times on India’s decision to ban these Chinese social media apps.

Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham urged the US to do the same. “LEADING THE WAY, WHERE’S THE U.S.? India bans dozens of Chinese apps including TikTok” she said in a tweet.

Author Gordon Chang said that India just banned 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok. “Why can’t the US do the same?” he asked.

According to Forbes, now with developers launching the latest clipboard alert in the beta edition of iOS 14, TikTok seems to have been caught abusing the clipboard in a rather remarkable manner.

“So it seems that TikTok didn’t stop this invasive practice back in April as promised after all,” it said.

An amendment added to the “Moving Forward Act” being considered this week in the US House of Representatives forbids Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers using the TikTok in smartphone device.

In April, Republican Senator Joshua David Hawley, passed a bill banning federal workers from accessing the TikTok social network camera platform on government-issued computers.

“This is a necessary step to protect the security of the US,” he said. A similar legislation has been introduced in the House of Representatives by Congressman Ken Buck.

“It (TikTok) is owned by a Chinese company that includes Chinese Community Party members in leadership and it is required under Chinese law to share user data with Beijing,” said Senator Hawley, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, during a recent Congressional hearing.

“TikTok has admitted that it has sent user data to China. To put it bluntly, this is a major security risk for the American people,” Hawley said.

“Footprint On Your Heart”

Someone will walk into your life,

Leave a footprint on your heart,

Turn it into a mudroom cluttered

With encrusted boots, children’s mittens,

Scratchy scarves –

When you linger to unwrap

Or ready yourself for rough exits

Into howling gales or onto

Frozen car seats, expulsions

Into the great outdoors where touch

Is muffled, noses glisten,

And breaths stab,

So that when you meet someone

Who is leaving your life

You will be able to wave stiff

Icy mitts and look forward

To an evening in spring

When you can fold winter away

Until your next encounter with

A chill so numbing you strew

The heart’s antechamber

With layers of rural garble.

How can students add up to the social movement for nature’s safety???

Why should we protect nature? Earth is our home and we have to love it. In earth are things humans needed but they destroy them and never worry about it. “Many animals are in extinction because of earth destruction.” Animals are disappearing since people don’t save nature. “Flora and fauna is destroying because we don’t take care of it.” Flora and fauna hurt because of all the damages we have done to it. “Global warming is happening over and over but no one think about it.” (Protecting the home we lice in) Global warming is occurring all over earth but we don’t care about it. All this is happening because we never worry about our home and its problems. All of us don’t save the beautiful paradise god gave us.

Biodiversity is a problem for scientists and it makes flora and fauna be affected”. All humans makes biodiversity destroy and also make flora and fauna start disappearing. Biodiversity is important to all plants and animals but we destroy so, plants and animals die. We start destroying one thing of nature and everything starts to destroy gradually. We never worry about destroying one little thing of our environment because we never think how things can start disappearing. Biodiversity, it’s needed by flora and fauna but while humans destroy it, flora and fauna also destroys. We don’t realise that we also need biodiversity. We are affecting the food chains.

“Global warming also makes disease spread all over many countries so many people die. It makes increase the intensity of heat waves and cause hurricanes or tornadoes.” Global warming makes diseases spread through out the world and kill many animals. It also affects heat so animals start dying because they don’t adapt to the environment, plants and humans, too. Global warming has many effects in humans and in nature. The diseases and heat make nature destroy little by little and also make some geographic accidents like hurricanes or tornadoes. All the diseases damage all living things and some times all nature. This is one of the biggest reason of climate change.

“It also happens because we waste water.” We also waste water in things we don’t really need and global warming starts advancing. Water is important but we don’t realize the importance and waste it always. People never take care of the things they need and that only nature can give them. All humans need water but everyone ignores that and starts wasting it in silly things. We ignore the things we need for surviving specially water and we don’t realize that ignorance all of us have.

We should protect nature because we destroy our home and other’s home. Earth is our home and we have love it and caring it. If we take care of it, nothing will be damage and many people, animals , and plants could live better . Global warming and extinction will not happen when we worry about earth and take care of it. Flora and fauna will not be destroy and disappear forever. Anything will be contaminated and we will not die soon and suffer any bad disease. We will have the best home ever and will be beautiful. Nature help us a lot in things we need like water and food but by destroying nature all that things will disappear and we could die or starve .

Things we can do to protect the nature:-

  1. Engage in environment saftey movemets.
  2. Spread as much awareness as you can.
  3. Everyone should realise that it is the need of the hour.
  4. Plant trees, don’t waste water and electricity.
  5. Start home composting.
  6. Start small gardens at home.
