How mind tricks us.

Speaking biologically, our brain contains cerebrum, cerebellum, and the mid brain. But technically speaking then we have two brains conscious and subconscious. Conscious mind plays its role when we are sober and sane. Yes the part of the day when we are awake is done by the conscious mind and rest other part is in the hands of subconscious mind. And let me tell you conscious mind plays only 5% of its part rest part is handled by the subconscious mind ie., 95%. The dreams we see are a part of our subconscious mind, Because consciously we are living the life. Imagination, Visulaization are all the parts of our subconscious mind. You know how saints in ancient times would have survived in the freezing temperature you wouldn’t even imagine going into. These saints have the power of their subconscious minds which literally gives them the strength to survive. We don’t know how powerful our subconscious mind is! In an incident it was found that a mother has tilted a car to save his child before he could run into the accident no wonder how she could perform such activity It is the matter of fact that subconsciously our mind knows many things but it doesn’t allow us to do it consciously. We need to over power our subconscious mind so that we can run our life as we wished.

Our brain gives us both negative and positive vibes, it is we who has to listen to the one. No matter you thinks negatively, and as myself being a pessimist has to suffers. Why people are pessimistic is because they over analyse the situation and thinks practically, and being negative atleast dont let them feel pathetic. We will be satisfied with the end result because if something good happens inspite of thinking it way negatively then it’s a win win situation don’t you think. Ok I think I made this para a bit complicated. Lets analyse it in a simpler way. Take it as exams preparation and then results, optimists will always have positive vibes around them and they will always think to get good scores lets say 95 out of 100 and when they get less than 95 then this is a disappointment for them but its other way round in terms of pessimists, because they will think the minimum score or the average and if they succeed to get to the average score then they are satisfied with that and achieved more than average then again it’s a win win situation for them. This is how a pessimist thinks atleast this is what the case is with me.

Being negative is not always our fault. We may have fallen in such situations that only gave us negative vibes and we ended up being negative. But the case is that nature always listens to our mind and the thing we actually are thinking it will take it as it is!! So, when you think negatively then its obvious for the nature to take it negative and return to you in more negative way. And there we get our life complexed. And in other hand when you are full of positivity and positive thoughts then nature will take it as it is and it returns to you in more positive manner. This is how life treats us, give them more positive vibes it will doubles the positivity around you and vice versa.

Be positive! ; )

Racism in the USA: Past and Present

Why it is in the news?

Recently, the accident happened in Minneapolis, the USA which brings this topic into the picture. On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an arrest for allegedly using a counterfeit bill. Black Lives Matter Protest began and it broke out all across the USA after the death of George Floyd, an African-American lived in Minneapolis city.

Police have used tear gas and force against demonstrators and President Donald Trump threatened to send the military. Some acts of looting and arson also occurred. President Donald Trump called this movement as riots.

Historical background of slavery

The revolutionary fights for African-American or The Black people’s rights are connected with the historical background of slavery. Many African citizens were brought from Africa to North America for slavery. There were slaves in 13 colonies which called them as “United States.” African people were working as “slave under The White people. It is a traditional activity from last more than three hundred seventy years. From 16th Century onwards slavery carried on unabated for almost 4 centuries. The United States got independence after the War of Independence even though these slaves were deprived of their fundamental rights and independence. But ultimately Civil War took place in 1861-1865 and the reason was only slavery. In the 1860s the slavery was abolished in Northern parts of the USA but still, slavery was common in the Southern part of USA. And this was the reason why the Civil War took place between Northern and Southern America.

Emancipation

Northern America won the Civil War and passed a law which is called as 13th Amendment by United States Congress for abolishing slavery except as a punishment for crime. By this law, 4 million slaves became freeman and freewoman.

Racism in American Policing

The police department was not in existence in past. The institution of police in modern USA Police started with systematic racism and violence in the form of ‘slave patrol’. At that time the slave state created patrols called as “slave patrol” to nip slave revolts and escape from southern part to northern part of USA. The state of South Carolina was the first to create slave patrols in 1704. By the end of the 1700s, every American slave state had slave patrols.

The former southern slave patrol transformed into police departments that technically were different from slave patrols, but were still charged with controlling the freed former slaves. This carried on in the Reconstruction and Jim Crow Laws era for the next 80 years.

Reconstruction Era 1863-1877

Reconstruction era started at the end of the Civil War. The aim was to reconstruct the south and integrate frees black people into society. They put efforts to give some legal rights and economic support to recently freed slaves (The Blacks). But they failed to provide any substantial rights.

For instance, just take the context of voting rights, 15 Amendment incarcerated voting rights discrimination based on race, it left the door open for states to determine the specific qualification for suffrage. Southern state legislatures used qualifications including literacy tests, poll taxes and other discriminatory practices to disenfranchise a majority of black voters in the decades following Reconstruction.

Repeating the History of Racial Segregation

Jim Crow Laws were one of the ways through which racial segregation started against Blacks. Jim Crow laws were state and local laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States. Jim Crow was not the name of any person or place. It was used as a caricature to tease the Blacks. All these laws were enacted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by white Democratic-dominated state legislatures to disenfranchise and remove political and economic gains made by blacks during the Reconstruction period. The Jim Crow laws were enforced until 1965. This is called Segregation – The Jim Crow Laws. The Jim Crow laws mandated the segregation for whites and blacks in the workplace, public school, public places, public transport, restrooms, restaurants and drinking water points.

Success and The Legal End of Segregation

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and The Voting Rights Act of 1965 were passed by the Congress and this decisive action towards the ending of Racial Segregation. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 banned segregation in schools and other public places. The Voting Rights Act 1965 banned literacy tests and other methods used to disenfranchise black voters.

#BlackLivesMatter Movement

This movement has past link when George Zimmerman fatally shot an unarmed Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old African-American high school student. Zimmerman was charged with murder for Martin’s death, but acquitted at trial after claiming self-defence. It was Zimmerman’s acquittal that gave rise to a hashtag and a movement called Black Lives Matter (#Blacklivesmatter).

Many cases and accident apart from George Floyd Case and George Zimmerman Case happened in the USA. Racism always existed in the US Police department. In past, several cases were unregistered or not recorded in the form of pictures and videos but in modern times, nothing can hide from the third eye called cameras. Everything got recorded by cameras. The movement in which thousands and millions of people are getting involved during a time when there is a pandemic named COVID-19 a communicable disease which spread by touching and there is no way to save ourselves except social distancing. Therefore, it shows that the disease of racism is more dangerous than COVID-19 pandemic.

PATNA

@martin_photography

Patna (Pataliputra), the capital of Bihar state, is a historic city located at the confluence of three rivers, the Ganga, the Gandak, and the Sone. The Ganga flows all along its northern boundary. The area in the south is generally low-lying and as such is prone to floods from the rivers Punpun and Sone. The city has a mean elevation of 173 feet (53 m) above sea level and is situated at 28°37′ north latitude and 85°10′ east longitude. It has been a center of learning, religion, and art since time immemorial. Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism are deeply connected to this city. It is one of the longest and the narrowest among the largest cities of the country, with a population of over a million and a half spread over an area of about 30 square miles (77.7 sq. km).

@martin_photography

The ancient city of Pataliputra was a mere village—Pataligram—in the time of the Buddha in the sixth century b.c. However, Ajatasatru realized its great strategic value for the growing kingdom of Magadha, facing the rival Licchavis republic of Vaisali on the northern bank (other side) of the Ganga, and erected a military outpost there. The natural advantage of the site made it commercially important and also helped its growth. The Magadhan king Udai transferred his capital from Rajgriha to Pataliputra. It remained the imperial capital under the Nandas, the Mauryas, and the Guptas. It was a prosperous and populous city when Megasthenes, the Greek ambassador to the court of Chandragupta Maurya, visited it twice.

Pataliputra acquired the status of a capital city during the reign of Emperor Ashoka (ruled c. 268–231 b.c.). However, it later faced Indo-Greek invasion, and the city was sacked in a.d. 185. But its glory again revived under the Guptas. Fahsien, the Chinese pilgrim who studied there for three years during the reign of Chandragupta I in the early fifth century a.d., not only considered it a famous center of learning but also the most beautiful and largest city of the world. The city again suffered destruction, and when Hsieun Tsang visited the city in a.d. 637, it had become desolate and deserted.

@martin_photography

Pataliputra emerged from its political obscurity when Sher Shah, the great Pathan ruler, built a fort there in 1541, transferred the provincial capital from Bihar Sharif, and gave it the new name of Patna. It became an important commercial center during the seventeenth century. Mughal emperors further extended the city in 1704. Prince Azimusshan, the grandson of Aurangzeb, the new governor (subedar) of Bihar, renamed Patna as Azimabad. With the coming of the Europeans, the city had expanded beyond its fortified walls and became famous in Southeast Asia as a source of sugar and salt-peter. The importance of Patna was further enhanced when it was made the capital of the newly created province of Bihar in 1912. It also contributed significantly to India’s freedom struggle against British imperial rule. More recently, Jaya Prakash ( J. P) Narayan launched his “Total Revolution” against corruption from Patna in 1974.

Lesser known facts about Greenery

Everyone is aware about how greenery contributes in the betterment of the environment by decreasing pollution. But it is not just limited to that.

When human body is surrounded with greenery, it improvises many functions.

  • Recovery Booster

Ever wondered why do we give flowers to a sick person admitted in the hospital?
It is because plants help us feel calm.
That is why most of the hospitals are surrounded with trees to increase the patient’s recovery.

  • Stress reducer
Places with a lot of plants and trees help reduce mental stress and increases your energy. If you ever feel sad or depressed head out and take a walk in the garden, maybe barefoot, and you’ll notice that your mood got a lot better than it was before. Also, it has no side effects.

  • Soothing to the eyes
Whenever you feel a sense of stress due to looking at a screen for a long time, look at the trees outside your window. The greenery is soothing to the eyes and helps to relax the eye muscle. It is also because the trees are at a distance from the viewer that helps to focus on the target.

  • Increase in lifespan
As the green spaces reduce problems like stress, depression and anxiety, which are often the reasons which lead to heart stroke or cardiac arrest.
Thereby increasing the lifespan of an individual and staying healthy.

  • Healthy sleep
When you go out for camping or to a village, a place surrounded by trees, you start to feel sleepy before midnight instead of staying up late. It is due to the effect of nature and unavailability of artificial lights that results in better sleep making you feel fresh when you wake up in the morning.

  • Increased focus on work
When we work in a place surrounded with greenery you will observe that your focus on your work increases. It is because our involuntary attention gets engaged in seeing, hearing and smelling without utilising huge brain power. Hence, the voluntary attention is focused on the work without much effort.
  • Forest Bathing
There is a Japanese therepy called Forest Bathing where people can jog, meditate, etc., in a forest.
As forests are filled with trees all our five senses are relaxed. The sound of the birds and the leaves of the trees rustling against each other, the fragrance of the forest, the greenery that soothes the eyesight and the warmness of the sunlight peaking through the branched and falling in our skin. Breathing in the clean and fresh air along with the forest fragrance is called aromatherapy of phytoncides.
All of these things together activate the sixth sense that is the state of mind. You will feel happy, calm and relaxed. Along with all these things you can also do activities like yoga, jogging, meditation, breathing exercises, plant observation, etc.

Forest bathing can be done anywhere, the only requirement is trees.

Hence, greenery not only cleanses the environment but it also cleanses your body to some extent.

5 TYPES OF PEOPLE IN LOCKDOWN

1) The Nonchalant Sleepyheads

They have no clue about what day or month is it. However they still remember that it is 2020 and they don’t fail to criticize the year for all the bad happenings. They keep  swinging between Netflix, Hotstar and Prime and rest for as long as their mothers don’t lose temper. They are happy that they get to sleep at any time, they’re having good food to eat and don’t have to do any kind of work besides binge watching and they are completely carefree with the current situation.

2)  The Ones In Heebie-Jeebies

They have kept themselves confined to a much stricter set of rules involving the coronavirus prevention. They are  always extra careful in washing their hands fifty times each day, rubbing even the nutrients away by over soaking the vegetables brought from a local vendor. They’d go on to  the lengths of scrubbing the air around them mercilessly, in the event that they, oh if by mistake, inhale the virus. Suspicion & Doubt is their new closest companion.

3) The Productivity Masters

Once the lockdown would be over, I bet they would come out with well defined six-pack abs or a flat belly (if they are she). And not to forget to mention, they even managed to gain expertise in baking different types of cake, donuts, cookies, pastries and the list goes on.
They are done with reading at least 15-20 books already and would have even finished stitching a mask by the time you will finish reading this article.

4) The back-to-normal Anticipators

Nobody craves for normalcy as much as they do for they just can’t wait for the day this Corona thing disappears and life gets back to as it was before. Because their mind  refuses to function only and they are profoundly scared of being able to make it in the Corona world post listening to daily dose of news, further panicking themselves. Okay, the problem doesn’t end right there, they even have to prevent the mask from sliding off their sweat-soaked nose.

5) The every-cloud-has-a-silver-lining Crowd
They are the ones who have vowed to stay optimistic under any circumstances. They have accepted the fact and are preaching people, through their posts on social media, regarding how the nature is cleansing itself and other xyz methods to learn to coexist with nature. They believe the glass is always half full and are sanguine about the situation being better again, but at the right time. These people don’t want to act as obstacles in the nature’s processes of regeneration and restoration. They are going to wait patiently till the time everything is sorted.

Hey guys! Hope you liked this slightly satirical article written with no offence to anybody. And what do you think  which category best suits you? Do let me know in the comment section below. If you ask me, I think I am a mix of all of them excluding the 2nd one.😛

✨EDUCATION✨

“Education gives a perfect face to life,
Education gives holy power to fight,
Education destroyes darkness with the help of light,
Education gives man broad sight”
Education is one of the most vital part of our life. India today is the second largest higher education network in the world. Universities in India are set up by the Central or the State Governments by the means of legislation, while colleges are established by either State Governments or private bodies / trusts. All colleges are affiliated to some university. The structure of higher education consists of three years of education after 12 years of school education leading to arts and science and four-five years in professional fields like engineering and medical. But the system of education in India isnot up to the mark. 25% of the Indian population is illiterate. Only 7% of the population that goes to school managed to graduate and only 15% of those who enrol manage to make it to high school and achieve a place in the higher education system. Many of our parents forced their childrens to take fied out of their intrest. After completing 12th the student is like a machine. Parents expect that my child should learn all the things in very short period of time and earn more than them. But noone is accepting truths. If the student don’t have intrest about field that parents selected then what is bad in it??? So I request all the students like me. Please accept field according your intrest. And don’t get bothered by anyone else. Live happy and lern more and more things according u r intrest.

Is Covid-19 really dangerous?

The Novel Coronavirus or Covid-19, has emerged in the year 2019 has become one of the hazardous diseases of the 21st century took away people’s breath and peace and became a pandemic causing whole of the world to stop at once. At the same time it forced people into struggling for their survival;some have to have there in hospitals all the time, others are chained into their own houses, while others are going here and there in search of a better place where they could assure safety for themselves. A lot of lives have been destroyed, people lost their loved ones, some are striving to assure everyone’s wellness. But one question arises in every individual’s mind is How dangerous is this Novel Coronavirus is?

Viruses before Covid-19

  • Plague-

Also known as black death, plague is a rare but serious infection transmitted by fleas. It has been responsible for widespread pandemics throughout the history, causing over 50 million deaths in Europe during the fourteenth century. But today can be easily treated with antibiotics.

  • Spanish flu-

One of the deadliest in the world history, Spanish flu infected an estimated 500 million people worldwide – about one-third of the planet’s population – and slaughtered an estimated 20 million to 50 million victims in 1918 and lasted till 1921, which is certainly a long time until any antibiotic was developed. It was just a strain of influenza that caused the pandemic during that time, but certainty the scientists and world doctors found out the best treatments.

  • SARS-

Though, today SARS (serve acute respiratory syndrome) has become one of the rarest diseases, it appeared in 2002 and spread worldwide in a few months. It is also a disease that spread from human-to-human, but it was in control after 2004.

  • Ebola virus-

Again one of the hazardous diseases that appeared in the year 1976 in 2 simultaneous outbreaks. The years 2014-16 saw the largest Ebola outbreak in West Africa since the virus was first discovered in 1976. It is thought that fruit bats of the Pteropodidae family are natural Ebola virus hosts, and it’s vaccine was out in 2015 after so many years of the outbreak, but surely it also got treated like other viruses and diseases.

Though the viruses mentioned above were all very perilous and people were killed in large numbers, but finally their cure was found out and people came victoriously out of them.

How dangerous is Covid-19?

The epicenter of the virus, Wuhan, first experienced the outbreak in August 2019 and slowly spread throughout the world in the year 2020. Today world’s most powerful countries such as USA, Brazil, Russia, India and UK have not been untouched from the effect of this monstrous virus. But, is the spread of this virus is never ending? Though the scientists all over the world are giving their hearts and souls but people are just freaking out about it so much that it has become a spurious news for all of the human race.

Since, the medical agencies claims that it is less transmissionable if one takes the proper preventive measures, such as wearing masks, using hand sanitizers frequently, avoiding human contact as much as possible and many more. Therefore, one cannot claim that it is inevitable and will curb all of the ephemerality and will surely come to an end some day. It is not likely that it is the only disease that have caused the slaughter of millions of people, then, why are we getting so distressed about it’s occurrence?

Although it is very dangerous and highly infectious, but at the same time we have provided with the preventive measures that can help us out keeping our infection risk low.

Where are we lagging behind?

Although we all are going through this fatal pandemic which will take a long time to be cured and one of the most critical part is we do not have the vaccine yet. Also, the world in which we are living today is kind of ruthless where everyone has to reach the utmost heights and that is why they can’t wait, but strife to work more and more.

But, then, do we only have to repent upon it or just get ourselves stressed out of it? No, the answer is clearly, a No. How long we will just sit back in our houses and wait for the virus to end? It is only our will power that will help end the fear and freight of the virus and we will definitely be able to get the best way out to dive out of the fear of the virus. Back in the 90s also, the vaccine didn’t came out immediately, but people learned the way to tackle with the world crisis. It is also the high time to let go our fears and make a bold move to make ourselves prepare for every pandemic and crisis to come up.

The Mind Maze

We hear the terms ‘ mind ‘ and ‘ brain ‘ often in our day to day life. Have you ever wondered if both mean the same or have different meanings?

Let me tell you that both the things are a bit different from each other.

Brain is the physical part of our body while Mind is the mental thing. It is the part where imaginations take place.

  • Levels of the mind

Our mind consists of three stages or levels which contribute in
